HOUSTON — Top-seeded Wichita State defeated eighth-seeded UAB, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the American Championship on Friday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.

The Shockers (20-3) extended their winning streak to 18 matches with the victory, setting a program record. Wichita State also advanced to the semifinals of the American Championship for the first time since 2018.

In doubles,
Anne Knuettel and
Vichitraporn Vimuktananda collected a quick 6-1 win at No. 3 to give the Shockers the early edge.
Xin Tong Wang and
Giorgia Roselli secured the doubles point at No. 1, winning 6-4 in a back-and-forth battle.

In singles, Wichita State maintained control by winning four of six first sets.

Wang capped an undefeated day with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, giving the Shockers a 2-0 lead.

Kudryavtseva added the third point for Wichita State with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5.

Tatyana Nikolenko clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4, sending the Shockers to the semifinals.
