HOUSTON — Top-seeded Wichita State defeated fourth-seeded Tulsa, 4-0, on Saturday in the semifinals of the American Conference Championship at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.

The Shockers (21-3) defeated Tulsa (14-12) for the second time in a week to reach their first American Championship final in program history.

In doubles, Wichita State dominated across all three courts and secured near-simultaneous wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to claim the doubles point.
Kristina Kudryavtseva and
Theodora Chantava won 6-3 at No. 2, while
Xin Tong Wang and
Giorgia Roselli earned a 6-1 victory at No. 1.

In singles, the Shockers remained in firm control, taking five of six first sets from Tulsa.

After losing to her Tulsa opponent in their first meeting, Chantava dominated the rematch, winning 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 to put the Shockers ahead 2-0.

Roselli followed with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 to bring Wichita State within one point of victory.

With the match tightening on the remaining courts, Wang dashed any hopes of a Tulsa comeback with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 1, clinching the match and advancing the Shockers to the championship.

The Shockers will face host and No. 3 seed Rice on Sunday at noon at the George R. Brown Tennis Center. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+. The winner earns the American's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
