LONG BEACH, Calif. — No. 28 Wichita State left little doubt in a crushing 6-1 win over No. 62 Long Beach State on Saturday afternoon at Rhodes Tennis Center.

Wichita State (14-3) extended its winning streak to 12 matches with the victory over Long Beach State (9-7). The Shockers now have their highest win total in a season since 2019, when they also won 14.

In doubles,
Anne Knuettel and
Vichitraporn Vimuktananda delivered the first blow with a 6-1 win at No. 3. Soon after, No. 12-ranked
Giorgia Roselli and
Xin Tong Wang sealed the point for the Shockers with a 6-3 win at No. 1. Playing the final match out,
Theodora Chantava and
Kristina Kudryavtseva secured a 6-4 win at No. 2 to give the Shockers a clean sweep in doubles.

In singles, the Shockers kept control by winning five of six first sets.

No. 106-ranked Chantava improved to 10-1 on the season with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3 to put the Shockers up 2-0.

Soon after, Roselli made the score 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 — her team-leading 12th singles victory of the season — improving to 12-1 in dual matches.

Vimuktananda clinched the Shocker victory with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5. She is now 11-1 in singles this season and has won 10 in a row.

Playing the remaining matches out, No. 124-ranked Wang added another point, earning a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 1 for her fifth consecutive singles win.

Tatyana Nikolenko secured the fifth singles win of the day with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 6 to make the score 6-0.

Long Beach State closed the match with its lone victory, a 6-4, 7-6 (7) triumph over Kudryavtseva at No. 4.
