A New Era
  • Wichita State women's tennis began its first dual season under head coach Jacob Eddins, who was named the ninth head coach in program history on Sept. 15, 2025. The Eddins era began with a 4-0 win over Texas State on Jan. 17 in Norman, Okla.
  • Eddins came to Wichita from Illinois, where he served as associate head coach for two seasons, compiling 32 dual-match wins and earning two bids to the NCAA Tournament.
  • Eddins' stint with Wichita State is his first as a head coach.
  • Eddins became the fifth Shocker head coach to earn a win in his debut all-time and improved the record of Shocker head coaches in their debuts to 5-4.
  • Wichita State had a preseason team Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 57.76, which ranks 65th nationally and is fourth-highest in the American Conference, behind Charlotte (No. 63), Florida Atlantic (No. 49), and Rice (No. 37).
  • Eddins earned both his first head coaching win at home and over a Power Four conference opponent with a 4-2 victory over SMU on Monday, Jan. 19.
Iowa Takeover
  • Wichita State defeated both Iowa State and Iowa last weekend in true road matches, 4-2.
  • Against Iowa State on Saturday, the Shockers took doubles swiftly, winning courts No. 2 and No. 3, 6-2.
  • In singles, things tightened up, but wins by Giorgia Roselli, Vichitraporn Vimuktananda, and Theodora Chantava pushed the Shockers to victory.
  • Roselli's singles win came over No. 45-ranked Maria Alberto Villar, which ranks as the eighth-highest ranked victory in program history.
  • Chantava, on her birthday, delivered the clinch, overcoming a first-set tiebreak defeat to win 6-7 (1), 6-3, 6-2.
  • On Sunday against Iowa, the Shockers won a tightly contested doubles point, with Roselli and Xin Tong Wang winning 6-4 at No. 1 to secure the point.
  • Chantava, the lone Shocker to win her first set, rallied from down 4-1 in the second, winning five straight games to steal the set and take her match, 6-2, 6-4.
  • Kristina Kudryavtseva and Vimuktananda each rebounded from losing their first sets to win their matches in three, with Vimuktananda's 4-6, 7-5, 6-0.
In the Rankings
  • Wang and Roselli were ranked No. 12 in doubles in the Wednesday, Feb. 4 ITA rankings, the highest ranking by any doubles pairing in program history. They moved up 12 spots from their end of fall rankings and 19 from their pre-fall rankings.
  • In addition, Roselli earned her first career singles ranking, ranking No. 109.
Award Winners
