A New Era
  • Wichita State women's tennis began its first dual season under head coach Jacob Eddins, who was named the ninth head coach in program history on Sept. 15, 2025. The Eddins era began with a 4-0 win over Texas State on Jan. 17 in Norman, Okla.
  • Eddins came to Wichita from Illinois, where he served as associate head coach for two seasons, compiling 32 dual-match wins and earning two bids to the NCAA Tournament.
  • Eddins' stint with Wichita State is his first as a head coach.
  • Eddins became the fifth Shocker head coach to earn a win in his debut all-time and improved the record of Shocker head coaches in their debuts to 5-4.
  • Wichita State has a preseason team Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 57.76, which ranks 65th nationally and is fourth-highest in the American Conference, behind Charlotte (No. 63), Florida Atlantic (No. 49), and Rice (No. 37).
  • Eddins earned both his first head coaching win at home and over a Power Four conference opponent with a 4-2 victory over SMU on Monday, Jan. 19.
Iowa State Recap
  • The Shockers defeated Iowa's in-state rival, Iowa State, on Saturday afternoon in Ames, 4-2.
  • Wichita State dominated in doubles, winning the point with a pair of 6-2 victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.
  • Singles was much closer, but wins by Giorgia Roselli, Vichitraporn Vimuktananda, and Theodora Chantava pushed the Shockers to victory.
  • The win by Roselli came over No. 45-ranked Maria Alberto Villar, giving Roselli the eighth-highest ranked win in program history.
  • Chantava delivered the clinch, overcoming a heartbreaking first-set tiebreak defeat to win 6-7, (1), 6-3, 6-2. 
Fall Notes
  • Wichita State earned 24 singles wins and 21 doubles wins during the 2025 fall season.
  • Roselli's 5-3 singles record was the best among all Shockers, and she paired with Xin Tong Wang to earn 10 doubles victories, the most of any Shocker tandem.
  • Kristina Kudryavtseva and Theodora Chantava posted the best winning percentage among WSU doubles teams in the fall at .833.
Doubles Champions
  • Wang and Roselli won the 2025 American Conference Doubles Championship on Oct. 26, earning a bid to the 2025 ITA Conference Masters Championship, where they finished fourth.
  • The pair faced a total of nine ranked opponents in the fall season, posting a 4-5 record.
  • For their fall efforts, Wang and Roselli earned an ITA doubles ranking of No. 24, up seven spots from their preseason ranking of No. 31.
  • The ranking is the fifth-highest achieved by a Shocker doubles pair in program history.
Last Year's Leaders
  • Chantava's 28 total dual match wins across singles and doubles led the Shockers during the 2025 spring season.
  • Chantava led Wichita State in wins in both singles and doubles, recording 14 of each.
  • Four Shockers, Chantava, Roselli, Wang, and Anne Knuettel, earned double-digit singles win totals last season.
  • Knuettel's 12-3 singles record (.800 winning percentage) was the best on the team.
Remnants of the Past
  • Wichita State finished 13-10 last season, reaching a national ranking as high as No. 47, and ending the year ranked No. 60.
  • The Shockers return 95.1% of their dual match win production from last season and added an experienced transfer in Vichitraporn Vimuktananda.
  • Seven Shockers have at least two years of playing experience. Five are academic seniors or graduate students.
  • The five Wichita State seniors are the most on a roster for the Shockers since the 2019-20 season, when they had seven.
Doubles is the Key
  • In matches where Wichita State won the doubles point last season, the Shockers went 11-2, with the only losses coming against No. 47/46 Charlotte and Washington State.
  • When the Shockers lost the doubles point, they went just 2-8.
Iowa Notes
  • Iowa is in its 10th season under head coach Sasha Boros.
  • The Hawkeyes are 3-3 on the year, with all three losses to top 20 opponents in Texas, Duke, and Ohio State.
  • Iowa reached the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 2010, losing to Georgia Tech in the first round.
  • Iowa was ranked as high as No. 28 last season and ended ranked No. 32.
  • The Hawkeyes lost their 2026 home opener on Friday to No. 18 Texas, 5-2.
  • Iowa's Sally Xu and Eline Bex are ranked No. 82 by the ITA in doubles.
  • Mia Mack, a transfer from San Diego, leads the Hawkeyes in total wins with nine, including a 5-0 record in singles.
Series History vs. Iowa 
  • The all-time series between Wichita State and Iowa is split 5-5.
  • The Hawkeyes defeated the Shockers 4-1 last season on Feb. 24, 2025, in Wichita. Knuettel's 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles was the lone win of the day for Wichita State.
  • The teams have met just four times since 2010.
  • Iowa has won two of the three matchups against Wichita State in the Boros era.
  • The teams are 2-2 against each other when playing in Iowa City. The Shockers lost the last meeting in Iowa, 4-3, on Apr. 10, 2017.
