Ogbebor Wins 60m, Shockers Record Nine Top-Three Finishes at Thane Baker Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Wichita State picked up nine top-three finishes and recorded six new all-time program top-10 performances, led by Chairo Ogbebor's 60-meter dash win Friday afternoon at the Cliff Rovelto Indoor Track.
 
Ogbebor clocked the second-fastest 60-meter time in Wichita State history to win the final in 6.73. The Shocker men recorded three more top-three finishes in the sprints and hurdles, courtesy of Jason Parrish, who ran 21.65 to finish second in the 200 meters and 47.82 to take third in the 400 meters, and Tyler Carroll, who ran 8.05 in the 60-meter hurdles final to place third, while Josh Parrish took a tumble in the final after clocking the second-fastest prelim time, running 7.84. Freshman Keely Hoback also finished third in the 60-meter hurdles for the Shockers, running 8.68 in her collegiate debut.
 
Three distance runners finished in the top three in their races as Lucy Ndungu ran 9:38.87 to finish second in the invite section of the 3,000 meters, Elkana Kipruto ran the second-fastest time in Shocker history to finish third in the invite section of the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:03.36, and Zander Cobb clocked the 10th-fastest time in school history to finish second in the open 3,000.
 
Jelese Alexander recorded the only top-three finish in a field event for Wichita State, clearing 1.78m/5'10" to place third in the women's high jump and rank fifth all-time in program history. Darius Graham took fourth in the men's high jump with a clearance of 2.06m/6'9".
 
Shellamae Farmer added her name to the Wichita State pole vault all-time top-10 list in her season opener, clearing 3.91m/12'10" to place sixth in the women's competition, and freshman Liam Miller cleared 5.06m/16'7.25" in his collegiate debut to take fourth in the men's competition.
 
Andie Rasmussen ran the fifth-fastest 600-yard time in school history in her Shocker debut, running 1:26.11.
 
The Shockers return to action Jan. 23 and 24 in Lincoln, Neb. for the Prairie Wolf Invitational and the Mark Colligan Memorial at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
