McCurdy Unveils 2025-26 Slate, Roster

7/30/2025 12:00:00 PM

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State women's golf head coach Tom McCurdy released his squad's schedule for the 2025-26 season on Wednesday afternoon.

Coach McCurdy has high expectations for the coming season as he returns almost all of his 2024-25 squad's production, giving the 2025-26 Shockers a group that possesses depth and experience.

"Our expectations for this season are high," said McCurdy. "Getting off to a strong start in the fall in order to establish ourselves in the national rankings is what we are prioritizing, and I think our first three tournaments give us a great opportunity to do that."

The 2025-26 season will be the 19th for McCurdy as leader of the Shockers.

In the 2024-25 season, Wichita State ended the year on a high note, recording their second-best finish at the American Championship in team history. The Shockers were led at the AAC Championship by Kate Tilma, who returns for her third year in the Black and Yellow after transferring from Kansas State.

The team returns their five major contributors from last season in Tilma, Brooklyn Benn, Mackenzie Wilson, Amelie Paul, and Kayla Van de Ven. All five played in at least six tournaments last year, with Benn, Tilma, and Wilson competing in all ten. Samantha Straight returns for her second year as a Shocker after transferring from Troy University prior to last season.

"The experience our team has this year is going to be great for us," said McCurdy. "Having experienced seniors on the team is a big deal. The return of our top performers from last year is going to give us great depth this year."

Rounding out the roster, true freshman Magdalena Domine from Argentina joins the squad with Abilene Christian transfer Manon Guille rounding out the roster. McCurdy expects both to contribute and push for lineup spots in their first season at WSU.

"Both our newcomers are very talented," said McCurdy. "Manon has a solid, experienced college game coming from Abilene Christian, and Magdalena is coming in with really good experience and high results at the national level."

For Tilma and Wilson, both have a chance to stamp their names in the Shocker record books, as they currently sit as No. 1 and No. 2 on the Shocker leaderboard for career stroke average, with Tilma at 75.07 and Wilson at 75.24. Taryn Torgerson currently holds the record after wrapping up her career with an average of 75.55.

"I anticipate really good things for Mackenzie and Kate in their senior years with us," said McCurdy. "They know and have experience with a lot of the golf courses we're going to this year. I anticipate their experience here as student-athletes being on full display."

The 2025-26 schedule for the Shockers features nine regular season tournaments across four states and two countries. The season begins early for WSU on August 24 with a trip to Lawrence, Kan., to compete in the Jayhawk Invitational, hosted by Kansas. The Shockers then will make two trips to Missouri in the month of September, the first to Springfield to play in Missouri State's Payne Stewart Memorial, and then to Columbia to compete in Missouri's Johnie Imes Invitational.

The Shockers round out the spring with two tournaments in their home state, the first in Hutchinson in the Prairie Dunes Invitational, hosted by Oklahoma on October 6, and the second in Manhattan in Kansas State's Powercat Invitational, beginning on October 20.

After the winter freeze, the Shockers resume their season with an international trip to Mazatlan, Mexico to play in the Estrella Del Mar Invitational, which opens on February 8.

Two weeks later, the team will make their first of two trips to Arizona, the first to Rio Verde to play in the Rio Verde Invitational on February 20, hosted by Western Michigan. Their return trip is slated for three weeks later when the team heads to Sedona to open play in the Red Rocks Invitational on March 13 and continues on to March 20 when they open play in the Mountainview Intercollegiate in Saddlebrook.

The Shockers end the regular season with a drive to Omaha, Neb., to compete in the Big 'O' Classic on April 6.

Postseason action begins on April 20 in the American Championship at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Fla., where the Shockers will compete for an automatic birth to NCAA Regionals.
