BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Mackenzie Wilson broke the program record for career stroke average as Wichita State finished eighth at the American Championship on Wednesday at Southern Hills Plantation Club.

Wilson's career stroke average of 75.22 broke the previous record of 75.55 set by Taryn Torgerson, who played at Wichita State from 2014 to 2018.
Kate Tilma also surpassed Torgerson's mark with a career average of 75.35, ranking second all-time behind Wilson.

Freshman
Magdalena Domine had an excellent week in Brooksville, finishing tied for 12th to lead the Shockers on the individual leaderboard. It was her second top-20 finish of the season. Wilson tied for 18th, finishing her collegiate career with her 16th top-20 finish.

At the American Championship, Wichita State recorded rounds of 302, 302 and 294 for a total of 898, finishing 34 strokes over par. Tulsa won the team title at 2-over 866. Charlotte's Pinky Chaisilprungruang earned medalist honors at 11-under 205.

The eighth-place finish for the Shockers tied their second-best finish all-time at the American Championship, trailing only a fifth-place finish in 2018.

Wichita State battled for a top-five finish for much of the tournament, climbing as high as fourth in the third round, but ultimately finished just a few strokes short.
