4/16/2025 8:15:00 AM

Wichita State track and field splits up to compete at Azusa Pacific, Oregon and Kansas Wesleyan from April 16-19.

A group of four Shocker distance runners kick off the week at the Bryan Clay Invitational with Sarah Bertry running the 10,000 meters, Yared Kidane making his outdoor 800-meter debut, and Adrian Diaz Lopez and Adam Rzentkowski competing in the 5,000 meters in Azusa, Calif.

Following the Thursday evening races in California, the distance group will join the majority of the rest of the team in Eugen, Ore. for the Oregon Open and Oregon Team Invitational, which will take place on Friday and Saturday at Hayward Field.

The Oregon Open features athletes from Corban, Eastern Oregon, Evergreen State, George Fox, Kansas State, Lane CC, Multnomah, Harrier Track Club, Los Lobos and Nike, and the Oregon Team Invitational will be a battle with Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Oregon State, Texas A&M and Utah.

Sophomore Josh Parrish enters as the Shockers' lone No. 1 seed in the Oregon Team Invitational, holding the best long jump mark in the field. He also comes in with the second-fastest seed time in the 110-meter hurdles.

Senior Destiny Masters is set to compete in five events over two days, throwing javelin and running the 200 meters and 100-meter hurdles on Friday and high jumping and long jumping on Saturday.

Junior Sadie Millard looks to put up a fast time in the 400-meter hurdles in her second-career outing in the event. Two weeks ago at the Friends Spring Open, Millard clocked a 1:02.44 with a fall in her 400-meter hurdles debut.

Another group of Shockers are staying close to home to compete at Kansas Wesleyan in the Coyote Challenge. Events run Friday and Saturday at the Graves Family Sports Complex in Salina, Kan.

ROAD TO EUGENE
The 2025 NCAA Division I Outdoor will take place June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore. at Hayward Field. This year for the west region, the road to Eugene goes through College Station, Texas, where the top 48 individual athletes and the top 24 relays in the region will compete at the NCAA West Preliminaries (NCAA First Round) May 28-31 for a spot at the NCAA Championships. The top 12 in each event advance to the championship. Combined event athletes (heptathlon and decathlon) do not attend the First Rounds, but instead, the top 24 athletes overall advance directly to the NCAA Championship in Eugene.
