TUCSON, Ariz. – Set in a tournament field with ten Power Four teams and five top 50 ranked squads, the Wichita State women's golf team finished a superb eighth place at the Mountain View Intercollegiate at Mountain View Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.

The Shockers' finish came behind round scores of 290, 313, and 296 for a total score of 903 (+39).Â

Tournament co-host Kansas State won the team crown, finishing ten strokes clear of second place Arizona with an 868 (+4) score. KSU's Carla Bernat ran away with the individual crown with a 205 (-11) performance

On the first day of play, the Shockers had one of their best rounds of the year, firing a 290 to open the tournament.
Kayla Van de Ven had the best round of her collegiate career to date, recording a 70 (-2) round score to finish the round tied for sixth.
Mackenzie Wilson was just one stroke behind at 71 (-1), tying for 15
th.

In round two, all 14 teams in the field saw a major jump in score, with the Shockers recording a 313 (+25), but were able to remain in the top ten, sitting in eighth place through 36 holes.

In round three, the Shockers found a steady pace, finishing out the tournament in eighth place, including topping No. 47 Miami.

Wilson had an outstanding first and third rounds of the tournament, but her second round was disqualified.Â
