Tilma Ties for Sixth to Lead Shockers in Snow Shortened Tournament

3/16/2025 6:39:00 PM

OAK CREEK, Ariz. – In a tournament that was cut two rounds short due to snowfall, Kate Tilma tied for sixth, leading the way for the Wichita State women's golf team at the Red Rocks Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

Sudden snowfall interrupted the tournament on day one and play didn't resume at Oak Creek Country Club until mid-morning Sunday, resulting in the tournament being shortened to just a one-round affair.

The Shockers finished 13th in the 19-team field with a score of 302, 14 strokes over par. Tilma was the highest finishing Shocker, tying for sixth with a 215 (-1) score. The Wichita native was tied for the lead for much of the tournament, but her lone bogey of the day came on her 13th hole and was too much to overcome.

With a very slim margin for error given the shortened length of the tournament, no other Shocker finished in the top 40 with Mackenzie Wilson being the closest, tying for 42nd.

Grand Canyon won the team crown with an even-par 288, one stroke ahead of host Northern Arizona at 289. NAU's Ellena Slater won the individual title with a three-under 69 score.
