Corey Washington has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon.
In a pair of wins last week, Washington averaged 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds. He started the week with a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double vs. UTSA and closed with another monster double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds in a win over No. 14 Memphis. He has scored 10 or more points in 14 consecutive games and his seven double-doubles this season are second on the team.
Washington is the first Shocker to earn American Player of the Week honors since Dexter Dennis on March 8, 2021.
Winners of four in a row, Wichita State travels to Boca Raton for a matchup between the two hottest teams in the league Thursday night at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2. Florida Atlantic has won its last five games entering the matchup.
