WTEN Preview: American Conference Individual Championships (Oct. 23-26)

10/22/2025 11:32:00 AM

TULSA, Okla. – Wichita State's Xin Tong Wang and Giorgia Roselli will open play in the 2025 American Conference Individual Championships on Oct. 23 at Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The pair will compete individually in singles and as a doubles pairing. The Shockers are seeded high in both singles and doubles. They are the No. 1 seed in the doubles bracket with Wang seeded No. 1 singles and Roselli No. 3.

They are ranked No. 31 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in doubles and Wang is No. 73 in singles. In doubles last week at regionals, the pair advanced to the quarterfinals, beating teams from Missouri and Nebraska before falling to a pair from Oklahoma in the quarterfinals.

With a first-round bye, both Shockers are just four wins away from winning the singles crown and three away from the doubles title. In doubles, they will face either UTSA's Valeria Sanchez and Natalia Casteneda Guerrero or North Texas' Lilly Schultz and Lou Chalard on Friday, Oct. 24, at 9:00 AM.

In singles, Wang will play either Tulane's Natalia Fantini or East Carolina's Ivona Savekova on Thursday at 2:00 PM. Roselli awaits Tulane's Natalia Perez or UTSA Valeria Sanchez and will also play Thursday at 2:00 PM.

At last year's American Individual Championships, Roselli paired with Theodora Chantava to reach the doubles semifinals, where they fell to the top-seed from Florida Atlantic in a super tiebreaker. In singles, Roselli reached the round of 16 before losing narrowly to Memphis' Leonie Moeller 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (8).

The singles and doubles champions will earn bids to the 2025 ITA Conference Masters Championship, which is played Nov. 6-9 at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
