Five Shockers Earn WGCA All-American Scholar Honors

WICHITA, Kan. – After another year of excelling in the classroom, five Wichita State women's golfers have been selected to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) 2023-24 All-American Scholar list.
 
The five Shocker scholars this year are graduate student Sarah Lawson, senior Madison Slayton, and sophomores Brooklyn Benn, Lauren Thiele, and Mackenzie Wilson.
 
Being selected as a WGCA All-American Scholar is a high honor, as the minimum cumulative GPA needed by a student-athlete to be selected is 3.50.
 
For graduate student Lawson, it is her third time earning scholar honors, while Slayton, Benn, Thiele, and Wilson are all first-time honorees.
 
About the Women's Golf Coaches Association 
The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 650 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting, and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
