Track and field's
Destiny Masters packed a lot of honors into five months.

"I couldn't be more proud of Destiny's season," coach
Steve Rainbolt said. "A college season is incredibly long and incredibly demanding and as a multi-event athlete, she has done a tremendous amount between the indoor season, the outdoor season and the postseason."

She started in late February by scoring 21 points in the AAC Indoor Championships to earn MVP honors, highlighted by first in the high jump and second in the pentathlon. In early March, she scored 4,338 points to place sixth and earn All-American honors in the NCAA Indoor Championships. A day later, she placed 12
th in the high jump (6-3/4) to grab second-team All-American honors in Boston.

"She just has achieved a new level," Rainbolt said after the NCAA indoor meet. "Part of that is because she's so talented and that talent now has got a foundation to build on. It's really, really exciting."

Outdoor season ended in a similar fashion in June.

Masters, a junior from El Dorado, claimed second-team All-American honors in the high jump (5-9 3/4 to finish in a tie for 15
th) and the heptathlon (5,691 to finish 13
th) in the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Â
Masters finished her season by jumping 5-10 to tie for 13
th in the Olympic Trials in late June in Eugene.
