MANHATTAN, Kan. – Destiny Masters set another Wichita State pentathlon record, scoring 4,211 points to win the Austra Skujyte Pentathlon at the K-State Multis Thursday in the Ahearn Fieldhouse.

The junior from El Dorado, Kan. Â opened the pentathlon with a personal best-tying 8.37 in the 60-meter hurdles to tie for the lead with 1,046 points and set a new meet record in the event.

Masters moved on to the high jump, where she cleared 1.80m/5'10.75", her fourth time clearing at least 1.80m this season, scoring 978 points to take the outright lead.

She threw 11.92m/39'1.25" to score 656 points in the shot put before jumping an indoor personal best of 5.98m/19'7.5" to move into Wichita State's all-time top 10 in the event at No. 9 and add another 843 points to her pentathlon total.

Masters capped the pentathlon with a personal-best 2:30.42 in the 800 meters (688 points), winning the pentathlon by 117 points. Her total of 4,211 points continues to lead the American Athletic Conference in the event and sits at No. 5 in the NCAA Division I rankings.

Kenisa Meyer recorded a 346-point personal best in the pentathlon with 3,675 points, placing fifth. She opened the meet with another hurdles personal best, running 8.59 to finish third. She also recorded personal bests in the shot put (11.04m/36'2.5), long jump (5.53m/18'1.75"), and 800 meters (2:30.86).

Tess Roman also finished with a personal best in the pentathlon, scoring 3,582 points to place sixth, and
Abby Klipstein placed seventh with 3,295 points.

Adria Navajon and
Luke Czarnecki sit in fifth and sixth of the heptathlon after day one with 2,910 and 2,775 points, respectively. Czarnecki had the best mark in the high jump, clearing 2.05m/6'8.75".

The men will begin day two of the heptathlon Friday at 11 a.m.
