Brianna Utecht gave Wichita State the sweep of the multi-events at the Shocker Multi Wednesday and Thursday in the Heskett Center.

Bailey claimed his second career Shocker Multi heptathlon title, winning the event with a personal-best 5,317 points. The senior from Raymore, Mo. recorded four personal bests in his season opener, including his first seven-meter plus mark in the long jump, 7.06m/23'2". Bailey logged the top marks in the long jump, 60-meter hurdles (8.19 PB) and pole vault (4.30m/14'1.25") and second-best marks in the high jump (1.97m/6'5.5") and 1,000 meters (2:57.33).

Sophomore
Luke Czarnecki and freshman
Rikard Trogen Hedin placed second and third in the heptathlon with 5,076 points and 4,935 points, respectively.

Czarnecki had four personal bests and recorded the best high jump clearance of the day, 2.03m/6'7.75". Trogen Hedin ran the fastest 60-meter dash in 7.12, tied with Bailey for the top pole vault clearance, and finished the meet with the fastest 1,000-meter time of 2:53.44.

In the pentathlon, Utecht competed in her first indoor meet since January 2023 after sitting out the majority of the last two seasons due to injury. The redshirt-sophomore from Marshfield, Mo. finished with the 10
th-best pentathlon score in Wichita State history with 3,796 points. She recorded three personal bests, including the best long jump mark of the day, 5.63m/18'5.75".

Destiny Masters was leading the pentathlon after three events but pulled out of the competition due to illness.

Sadie Millard took second with a new personal best 3,614 points, including personal bests of 8.85 in the 60-meter hurdles and 1.51m/4'11.5" in the high jump. She finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:22.94.

Natalie Hill and
Lexi Gagnon placed fourth with 3,387 points and sixth with 3,271 points, respectively, in their official Shocker debuts. Gagnon ran the fastest 800-meter time of the day in 2:21.81.

Emily Whorton took ninth with 2,971 points.
