Kristi Bredbenner has never been one to shy away from competition, and that's no different in 2025. The Shockers unveiled their schedule Monday afternoon, which features games against 12 NCAA Tournament teams from 2024.
Life without the program's all-time home run leader,
Addison Barnard, begins but the Shockers welcome back an All-American in
Lauren Lucas who missed all of 2024 due to injury.
The season kicks off in the desert at the Grand Canyon Tournament, Feb. 7-9. Competition ramps up in a major way the following weekend when the Shockers face five NCAA Tournament participants over three days at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational, Feb. 13-15. Wichita State will see Kentucky, Texas A&M, San Diego State, Liberty and Florida State with all games available on the ESPN family of networks.
A midweek contest at East Texas A&M (formerly Texas A&M Commerce) precedes a tournament at Oklahoma, Feb. 20-22. The Shockers will face Abilene Christian, Bowling Green and the four-time defending champion Oklahoma Sooners.
Wichita State wraps up spring tournament play by hosting the Shocker Invitational, Feb. 27-March 2. Oklahoma State, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota State make up the tournament field in Wichita.
The first of two midweek matchups vs. Kansas City will take place March 5 in Kansas City, followed by the Roos making the return trip to Wichita on April 22.Â
Conference play opens March 7 in Boca Raton at the defending regular season champions, Florida Atlantic. Wichita State will also make conference road trips to UTSA (March 21-23), UAB (April 4-6), Tulsa (April 17-19) and Memphis (May 2-4).
Wichita State's conference home opener is Friday, March 14 vs. North Texas. South Florida (March 28-30), East Carolina (April 11-13) and Charlotte (April 25-27) also travel to Wichita for conference series.
Remaining midweek games will see Wichita State travel to Kansas (March 12), Texas State (March 19) and Oklahoma State (April 15), and home dates with Central Arkansas (March 25), Oklahoma (March 26) and Kansas (April 30).
The 2025 American Athletic Conference Championship will be hosted by South Florida, May 7-10.
