Kristof Minarik advanced to Saturday's doubles semifinals with a victory over a duo from Memphis on Friday afternoon in the AAC Individual Championships at George R. Brown Tennis Center.

After a first-round bye, the fifth-seeded Shockers took down the fourth-seeded Tiger pairing of Harry Rock and Pablo Alemany, 8-3.

The win moves the Shockers into Saturday's semifinals, where they will meet the top-seeded pairing in the field of Vasco Prata and Matias Iturbe of Charlotte. The 49er team took down UAB's Noah Malige and Ondrej Valik to meet the Shockers.

In consolation singles, Jacome added another win, taking down Charlotte's Prata 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 to move on and face UAB's Malige. Jacome would be forced to retire due to injury in the first set.Â

Also in singles, Minarik fell in another three-set bout, this time to Rice Emir Sendogan, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.

The duo is slated to play in their doubles semifinal match tomorrow at 9:00 AM Central, with the winner moving on to Sunday's doubles final.
