Wilson, Vidal Lead Shockers at ORU Spring Invite

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - Mackenzie Wilson and Mar Vidal led Wichita State to a sixth place finish at the ORU Spring Invitational, with play concluding Tuesday afternoon.

Wilson shot a 1-under par, 71 on the final day to finish in a tie for 8th at 4-over par, 220. The freshman collected her third top 10 finish of the season behind Tuesday's under par round. Her 71 tied for the second lowest 18-hole score of the season, one stroke behind a season best, 70.

Wichita State finished placed sixth as a team with a total team score of 50-over par, 914. Sam Houston won the team title at 7-under par, 857.

Vidal registered her third top 20 finish behind a 9-over par, 225. She tied for 19th behind a first round even-par, 72.

Finishing within one stroke of each other were Kenni Henson, Madison Slayton and Megan Lucas. Henson came in at 22-over par, followed by Slayton at 23-over par and Lucas at 24-over par.

Playing as individuals, Brooklyn Benn and Sarah Lawson, rounded out the Shockers in action. Benn just missed a top 20 finish, tying for 23rd at 11-over par, both season bests. Lawson tied for 52nd along with Henson.

Wichita State will now turn its attention to the American Athletic Conference Championship next week in Brooksville, Fla.
