Men's Golf to Compete in Arkansas Match Play Event

4/1/2023 7:45:00 PM

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Wichita State men's golf team has added a unique competition to the schedule this week, participating in The Blessings Medal Match Play hosted by Arkansas on Monday, April 3. The Shockers will battle Central Arkansas in the first round, then play either the winner or loser of the Arkansas-Missouri State match in the afternoon.

Unlike the Wyoming Desert Match Play competition to open the spring, this week's format will feature a five-man lineup. Head coach Judd Easterling will go with Blake Lorenz, Lucas Scheufler, J.T. Pittman, Dawson Lewis and Tate Herrenbruck.

The Shockers are coming off an 11th-place finish at the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate in South Carolina. Lorenz paced the Shockers individually, tying for 13th.

Wichita State has one more tournament before the American Championship, returning to action with the Hawkeye Invitational hosted by Iowa on April 15 and 16.
