2/16/2023 2:28:00 PM

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Wichita State track and field team is sending 33 athletes to one last meet before the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Friday.

A handful of athletes will compete at the Arkansas Qualifier in Fayetteville, Ark. as a tune-up meet or to compete to secure a spot on the AAC Championship 32-athlete men's or women's roster.

Destiny Masters, Mattelyn Swartz and Brady Palen are all taking their final high jump attempts before the conference meet and are looking to improve their season bests.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Joseph Holthusen is coming off two-straight sub-eight-second races and a 60 meters personal best and will race against teammate Nate Vann, who ran two-straight personal bests in the hurdles.

Jaleel Montgomery ran a personal best in the 60 meters in the season opener and will race one more time before conference to try to improve his time of 6.84.

Ridge Estes is entered in the shot put competition after throwing over 16 meters in three consecutive meets. Last year at the Arkansas Qualifier, Shocker throwers broke two school records and set four big personal bests, including three in the shot put.

The first field event begins at 12:30 p.m. with the women's high jump, and the 60-meter hurdles prelims start off the running events at 2:25 p.m.
