Shockers Settle for Eleventh in the Natural State

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. – The Wichita State women's golf team concluded their fall campaign in the Diamante Intercollegiate at Diamante Country Club with an 11th place team finish at 15 strokes over par. 
 
The Shockers totaled a team score of 879 with rounds of 297, 291, and 291 finishing 15-over par and tied for 11th as a team. California Baptist put together an incredible round three to snatch the team crown from Boston College. The Lancers finished 26-under par to take the trophy. Pariya Sanpanawat of Georgia State won the individual title behind a 12-under par performance.

After flying out the gates to open the tournament with five early birdies, the Shockers tripped up down the stretch and finished +8 as a team across the final three holes of the day, bouncing the team from 5th to 14th through the first 18-holes in Arkansas.

The Shockers again started incredibly strong in round two, combining to be -7 through the first three holes of the day and climbing the team back into a 5th place spot on the leader board, but more back nine troubles would send the Shockers tumbling back down the leader board.
 
Madison Slayton and Kate Tilma each recorded their first eagles of the season in round two, both coming on hole 11.

Round three again saw the Shockers climb back early on, but they again would slip on the back nine resulting in a 12th place finish for the team in Arkansas.
 
Wilson compiled a fantastic round three, downing four birdies with just a single bogey that came on hole 18. Her 69 (-3) round three score boosted her to a tie for 12th place finish on the individual leaderboard.

The women's golf team will enjoy a few months rest through the winter and will reemerge on the golf scene on February 23 at the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Arizona.
