Versatile, experienced scorers have been the theme in a busy month of spring recruiting at Wichita State.

Men's basketball coach
Isaac Brown announced the signing of four more impact transfers:
Gus Okafor (6-6 Sr. F; Southeastern Louisiana),
Jaron Pierre Jr. (6-4, So., G; Southern Miss),
Colby Rogers (6-5, Jr., G; Siena) and
Jaykwon Walton (6-7, Jr., G; Shelton State).

Â
Listed as the nation's No. 2 junior college recruit, per 247Sports, Walton announced his commitment to WSU late Thursday morning.
He spent the last season at Shelton State (located in Tuscaloosa, Ala.) where he averaged 12.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals for a team that finished 30-5 and reached the second round of the NJCAA national tournament.
"Jaykwon is an experienced guy who can help us out at multiple positions because of his size, skill and athleticism," Brown said. "He's an unselfish player with excellent court vision, and he has the tools to be a big-time defender."
Walton was a consensus top-100 high school prospect in the Class of 2019. The two-time all-state selection led George Washington Carver High School to Alabama's Class 6A state title as a junior and a runner-up finish his senior year.
Â
He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Â
At Siena, Rogers was one of college basketball's most-dangerous long-distance threats, earning second team All-MAAC status while averaging a team-high 14.1 points. He sank 73 three-point field goals and ranked eighth nationally in percentage (.429).
Â
"Perimeter shooting was an area we felt like we needed to improve, and there aren't many better than Colby," Brown said. "He's a guy that defenses have to account for at all times, and even then, he has the size and quickness to get his shot off."
Â
The 6-foot-5 Rogers started his collegiate career at Cal Poly and averaged double-figure scoring in each of his two seasons. The Covington, Ga. native played his senior year of high school in New Jersey, helping Roselle Catholic to a 28-4 mark and a No. 17 national ranking.
Â
Rogers has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Â
Â

Â
Okafor – a 6-foot-6 forward from Baltimore, Md. – earned first team All-Southland Conference honors this spring for Southeastern Louisiana, averaging 14.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals.
Â
An inside-out-threat, Okafor shot over 51 percent on two-point field goals, converted 107 free throws on 79 percent accuracy and knocked down 60 threes.
"Shocker fans are going fall in love with Gus because of his toughness," Brown said. "He can score from all over the court. He rebounds well and has the ability to guard multiple positions."
Â
Okafor was a late-bloomer, earning just one Division I offer out of high school. He played a year each at Longwood and Miami Dade College before landing at Southeastern, where he started all but two games in two seasons.
Â
Okafor has one season of collegiate eligibility left.
Â
Â

Â
Pierre – a 6-4 combo guard – has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Â
The New Orleans native averaged 10.0 points and 2.2 threes-per-game during the 2021-22 campaign after earning Conference USA All-Freshman Team honors in 2020-21.
Â
Pierre was a first team all-state selection as a high school senior when he led St. Augustine to a 31-2 record and a state runner-up finish in Division I (the largest of Louisiana's four private school classifications).
Â
"He's a tough assignment for any defender because he has so many different ways to hurt you. He can catch-and-shoot or create off the bounce," Brown said. "With Jaron we're getting both experience and upside. He's battled-tested with two seasons at Southern Miss but has a chance to get even better over the next three years."
Â
Â
The quartet of Okafor, Pierre, Rogers and Walton join transfers
Quincy Ballard (7-0, C, Florida State),
Xavier Bell (6-3, G, Drexel) and
James Rojas (6-8, F, Alabama) and high school senior
Jacob Wilson (6-5, G, Baton Rouge, La.) in WSU's 2022 recruiting class.
Â
The Shockers still have one scholarship remaining for the 2022-23 season.
