FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Two Wichita State throwers set new program records at the Arkansas Qualifier Friday inside the Randal Tyson Track Center.

Michael Bryan got the meet underway by breaking his own school record in the weight throw to win the meet. His throw of 21.22m/69-7.5 moves him up to 26
th in the nation in the event as he remains atop the American Athletic Conference leaderboard heading into championships next weekend.

Over in the women's shot put,
Amanda Kakoulias shattered the program record with a huge personal-best throw of 15.86m/52-0.5 to move up to No. 2 in the conference.
"We had two seniors who have put in work consistently for a long time earn WSU all-time bests," throws coach
John Hetzendorf said. "Their results today give me confidence that the group is moving the right direction heading into the AAC championship."

The throws group recorded two other big personal bests courtesy of
Dae'Trell Gordon with a 16.29m/53-5.5 toss in the shot put and
Anna Zimmer with a 14.00m/45-11.25 mark in the weight throw.

In the jumps, three Shockers made finals in the women's triple jump, and all three set new personal records.
Summer Stevenson led the way with a seventh-place finish and a jump of 11.96m/39-3, with
Ezinne Okoro (11.88m/38-11.75) and
Grace Lange (11.87m/38-11.5) finishing right behind her in eighth and ninth.

Weston Lewis took third in his second high jump competition of the year, clearing 1.94m/ 6-5 on his first attempt.

On the track,
JD Prinsloo and
Sydney Johnson both ran personal bests in the 200 meters, crossing the line in 22.62 and 24.94, respectively.

This was the final regular season meet for the Shockers as they prepare for the AAC Indoor Conference Championships on Feb. 25-26 in Birmingham, Alabama.
