Wichita State Brings New Gameday Elements to Koch Arena

10/26/2022 8:00:00 AM

WICHITA, Kan. – Over the last three months, Wichita State Athletics staff conducted numerous listening sessions with different groups of Shocker fans. Shocker Nation asked for gameday enhancements and we listened.

The following summary represents a few of the numerous gameday improvements fans can expect in Charles Koch Arena for the 2022-23 season.

Concessions

As a small token of thanks and appreciation to Shocker Nation, concession stand pricing will remain flat – through reduced commissions to Shocker Athletics – and new high value items will be made available.

New family deals will be available at concession stands throughout the arena. Fans can pick any 2 for $20 or any 3 for $30 including:
• 4 hot dogs
• 4 small popcorns
• 4 16 oz. drinks
• 2 small popcorns & 2 candy bars

There is also a new halftime promotion where fans can go to the Shocker Lounge in the Aetna Multi-purpose Facility to take advantage of a deal with a Bud Light and a slice of pizza for just $10.

Branded concession stands will also be featured around the concourse including Shock Burger, Smokey Joe's BBQ, American Grill, WuShock's Pizza Cave, Fairmount Dogs and QDOBA.

Additional points of sale will also be added around the concourse to expand service and reduce wait times.

Fans will also be able to use mobile ordering this season in Charles Koch Arena. Download the Shocker In Seat app from the Google Play store or the Apple App store. You can order off of a limited menu for pick up outside of the Burger Shock Stand (Section 126) and The American Grill Stand (Section 118) and skip waiting in line. You will receive a confirmation text when your food is ready.

K-College Initiative
Wichita State women's basketball has announced that all kids kindergarten through college will receive free admission to all home games for the 2022-23 season. Kids will receive a wristband at the gate, and use that wristband as a season ticket for the remainder of the season. Wristbands will be available at each entrance to Charles Koch Arena and the Shocker Ticket Office on non-gamedays.

The Shocker Way Mezzanine
Fans have an opportunity to experience a NEW premium gameday amenity for the 2022-23 season called the Shocker Way Mezzanine. It provides access to an exclusive social area overlooking the Charles Koch Arena concourse. Proceeds will support the new "Shocker Way" giving campaign. A full-service bar and crafted sandwiches by Mokas Café will be included with membership along with an exclusive lanyard and member credential. Members will have access for 90 minutes before each home game. Click here to purchase a membership.

Shuttles/Drop Off Policy
Fans have several options for shuttle transportation to basketball games. Route 202A from the Metropolitan Complex will deviate from its regular route to accommodate men's basketball game traffic.
  • Route 202A will run every 20 minutes and will start 2 hours prior to the game time.
  • Route 202A will add stops at the crosswalks for those headed to the arena.
  • In addition to usual service, routes will run during Saturday and Sunday game days.
  • Pick up for games will include Starbucks for those attending the Braeburn Square pregame activities.

Fans can also download the MyStop App. The Wichita Transit MyStop app on your smart phone or computer lets you track buses so you'll always know when the next bus will arrive. Get the app in the Apple App Store, on Google Play or for desktop.

Those fans with accessibility or health issues, short term or long term, are able to be dropped off in front of Charles Koch Arena by the flag pole. All other drop offs, including ridesharing (Uber, Lyft, etc.), taxis and hotel shuttles, are on Alumni Drive just south of Charles Koch Arena. Click here for a map for the ride share location drop off.
