PEORIA, Ill. – The Wichita State cross country team will toe the line for its final regular-season race Friday at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Illinois.
 
The Shockers will have athletes battle it out with 36(W)/38(M) other teams in both the white race and the red race, with the women's white 6K starting things off at 1:30 p.m., followed by the men's white 8K at 2:15 p.m., the women's red 6K at 3 p.m. and the men's red 8K at 3:45 p.m. All races will be run at the Newman Golf Course.
 
At last season's Bradley Pink Classic, the Shocker men brought home the team title with 104 points and a total time of 2:02.58. Clayton Duchatschek recorded to best Shocker finish, placing 11^th in 24:18.8. Wichita State returns four of the top seven runners from that race.
 
Friday's men's race features six of the week-four USTFCCCA top-15 Midwest Region teams, led by Midwest No. 4 Illinois and No. 5 Drake. Host Bradley came in at No. 8, followed by Wichita State at No. 10 and South Dakota State at No. 11. Two other regionally ranked teams will be in attendance, with Miami (Ohio) and IUPUI coming in at No. 6 and No.15, respectively, in the Great Lakes region. The Shockers are looking to move back up in the Midwest rankings after falling two spots in week four.
 
The Wichita State women have yet to break into the Midwest rankings but a strong performance against six of the top-15 Midwest teams could earn them a spot. The Shockers will race against Midwest No. 2 Illinois, No. 3 Northwestern, No. 5 Bradley, No. 11 Loyola-Chicago, No. 14 South Dakota State and No. 15 North Dakota State, along with Great Lakes No. 10 Miami (Ohio) and American Athletic Conference foe No. 15 Cincinnati.
 
The Bradley Pink Classic has crowned two Shocker individual champions over the years with Kellyn Johnson and Yazmine Wright winning the women's 6K in 2007 and 2021, respectively.
