COLUMBIA, Mo. - Louisa Brunt notched her second top-10 finish of the season and has been in the top 20 in all three fall tournaments after placing seventh at the Johnie Imes Invitational.
The three-day tournament concluded Wednesday with Wichita State finishing tied for fifth at 27-over par (891). The Shockers' score of 891 marked a season best. Missouri held on to win the team title at 1-over par, just two strokes ahead of second place Oral Roberts.
Brunt carded under par rounds on the first two days and finished with an even-par 72 Wednesday. The Manchester, England, native finished in seventh place with a total score of 2-under (71-71-72 -- 214). Her total score of 214 was a season low.
Kenni Henson entered the final round in the hunt for medalist honors after shooting a 71 and 70 in rounds one and two, but had a tough go on the final 18 holes. She just missed a top-20 finish, tying for 22nd at 6-over par (71-70-81 -- 222). Her second round score of 2-under par, 70, was a career low. Henson led all Shockers with 12 birdies in the tournament, and tied for fourth among all players in the field.
Playing in her first tournament of the season,
Mar Vidal tied for 29th at 9-over par (77-72-76 -- 225).
Megan Lucas carded rounds of 79-74-77 to finish in a tie for 44th at 14-over par (230). Rounding out the lineup was
Madison Slayton, who tied for 72nd at 28-over par.
Wichita State has a couple weeks off from tournament play before heading to Hollister, Mo., for the Ozarks National Invitational (Oct. 18-20).
