WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State's Jed Helker was named the American Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
 
Helker ran a 40-second personal-best time of 24:18.10 in the 8,ooo meters to win his first-ever collegiate cross country race Saturday at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
 
In the 2021 spring season, Helker earned all-conference honors for his 14th-place finish at the AAC Cross Country Championships.
 
Wichita State cross country races again Friday, Oct. 1 at the Gans Creek Invitational in Columbia, Mo.
