Shocker Golfers Open Fall Season at Colbert Hills

9/10/2021 8:10:00 AM

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Wichita State men's golf team opens up its 2021-22 season Monday and Tuesday at Kansas State's Wildcat Invitational.

The Shockers will be one of 13 teams competing at Colbert Hills Golf Club.

Action begins at 8 a.m. CT Monday with the first of 36 holes and concludes Tuesday with the final 18.

Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.

"This is the perfect tournament to open with," head coach Judd Easterling said. "Most of our guys are familiar with Colbert. It's a great course that hosted the Kansas Amateur a few years ago and it's an easy trip. We're looking forward to it."

WSU's opening day lineup includes some familiar faces. Dawson Lewis, Brock Polhill and Grayson Wallace all begin their fourth seasons in the Shocker program. Jack Glenn is back for his third. They'll be joined by freshmen newcomer Lucas Sheufler.

WSU did not compete last fall due to COVID-19 restrictions but took part in six spring events, capped by a fourth-place showing at the American Athletic Conference Championship.

This is the first of four-straight weeks of competition. The Shockers will spend the next three in Colorado at tournaments hosted by Colorado State, Colorado and Denver. The fall season finishes up Oct. 18 with the Little Rock Invitational.
