6/9/2021 9:13:00 PM

EUGENE, Ore. — Both Shockers that qualified for the NCAA Championships completed their seasons with Second Team All-America performances on Wednesday at Hayward Field.

Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Steve Rainbolt said he could not be prouder of Bryan and Norman.

"These two guys both had remarkable collegiate seasons," Rainbolt said. "To finish off the Championship season with each of them achieving second team All-American status was absolutely fabulous. It's a very proud day for Shocker Track and Field."

Michael Bryan capped off a historic season in the men's hammer throw with Second Team All-America honors.

Bryan tossed the hammer 70.08m/229-11 to earn a 12th-place finish. Bryan missed out on making the final section of the hammer throw by 20 centimeters.

Bryan's season was filled with exceptional achievement. He broke the school record in the hammer throw four times and tossed the hammer 70 meters or farther at three meets, including the NCAA Championships. Bryan earned all-conference honors with a runner-up finish at the AAC Championships and grabbed four individual victories this season.

Antonio Norman also claimed Second Team All-America honors in the men's 110-meter hurdles. He took 16th with a time of 13.88.

Norman ran in the 110-meter hurdles for the first time in his collegiate career this year and made it all the way to Eugene.

Norman ran under 14 seconds in all nine tries in 2021. He also took third in the high hurdles at the AAC Championships to earn all-conference honors. He ran 13.63 at the West Regional to tie for third in school history in the 110-meter hurdles.

Bryan and Norman's All-American performances wrapped up the Shockers' 2021 season.

A handful of current and former Shockers hope to qualify for and compete at the US Olympic Trials, which take place June 18-27, in Eugene, Oregon.
