WICHITA—Michael Bryan has been named the AAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this outdoor season, the conference announced Wednesday.
Bryan broke the men's hammer throw school record for the fourth time this season at the John McDonnell Invitational on Saturday. He tossed the hammer 70.45m/231-2 to improve on his own school record by 30 centimeters.
Bryan improved on his No. 7 mark in the country in the men's hammer throw. He sits at No. 4 in the West Region and leads the AAC in the event.
It is Bryan's third conference weekly honor during this outdoor season alone. He was also honored on April 7 and 14 for school record-breaking tosses in the hammer throw.
The accomplishment marks the fourth consecutive week that a Shocker has taken home the AAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week award.
Taran Taylor was honored last week for his performance in the javelin at the KT Woodman Classic.
Bryan and the Shockers head to Lawrence on Friday for the two-day Rock Chalk Classic at Kansas. The Shockers are also set to have representation at the Trials of Miles Kansas City Qualifier on Saturday.
