WICHITA, Kan. - Freshman Addison Barnard has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week after a stellar weekend vs. Creighton, while Bailey Lange was named to the Weekly Honor Roll for the second consecutive week.

Barnard started all three games at second base and went 5-for-9 (.556) at the plate with three home runs, a triple, three runs scored and eight RBI. She hit a three-run home run in game one and then homered twice in one inning in game two, while driving in a season-high five RBI.

Barnard is the first Shocker to garner Player of the Week honors since Madison Perrigan on April 15, 2019. It is also only the fourth time since Wichita State joined The American that a Shocker has been named Player of the Week.

Lange made two appearances in the circle, both complete games, and went 2-0 with a 0.58 ERA on five hits and one earned run. She struck out 13 batters and allowed only four walks in 12.0 innings of work. Lange threw a complete game shutout in game three, allowing just four hits and striking out eight Bluejays.

Wichita State is back in action this weekend when the Shockers travel to Arlington, Texas, for the Boerner Invitational. The Shockers will face Missouri State, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, North Texas, UT Arlington and Iowa State over three days of play.
