WICHITA, Kan. –Â
Tanner Brown took control of day one of the Shocker Multi heptathlon, opening the meet with a school record-tying 60-meter dash on Wednesday afternoon.

His time of 6.76 ties with Denvoir Griffin (2018) for the fastest 60m race in Shocker history.

Brown also earned the top mark in the long jump with a leap of 6.87m (22-6.5) and tied with
Hudson Bailey for the best mark in high jump (1.93m; 6-4). He came in second in the shot put only to
Michael Bryan, who is competing unattached to earn points in the Black and Yellow Intrasqad competition.

Brown leads the heptathlon after day one with 3132 points, followed by
Nate Vann with 2835 points and
Hudson Bailey with 2700.

Vann finished right behind Brown in the long jump with a mark of 6.65m (21-10) and in the shot put.

Kolby Caster and
Jack Mull sit in 6
th and 7
th after day one with 2553 and 2401 points, respectively, followed by
Wen Clough and Bryan (unattached).

Adria Navajon Fabregat withdrew from the competition after pulling up in the 60m.
