WICHITA—After nearly one year away from official competitions, the Shocker track and field teams are set to return to action for the 2021 indoor season.
 
Nine meets make up the 2021 indoor track schedule for Wichita State, Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Steve Rainbolt announced Tuesday.
 
"I am really excited for our athletes to be in competitive situations again," Rainbolt said. "It's been a long time during all that we've been through and athletes are really looking forward to track and field competition. This indoor season will have some very interesting meets so it really feels good to be getting ready again."
 
Wichita State track and field is slated to host three meets: the Shocker Prelude, Shocker Invitational and Herm Wilson Invitational. Fans will not be allowed inside the Heskett Center for Wichita State's home meets.
 
Wichita State won't be too far from home during the 2021 indoor season. Six of the nice meets on the Shockers' schedule are set to take place in the state of Kansas. 
 
The Shockers will take part in a championship-style meet at Air Force from Feb. 25-27.
 
The NCAA Indoor Championships are set to wrap up the indoor season March 12-13 at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of Arkansas.
