GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Wichita State University baseball team earned the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2019-2020 academic year.
 
The award honors high school and college programs coached by ABCA members that post a grade-point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the current academic year. It's the third straight year the Shockers have earned the honor.
 
WSU tallied a 3.409 cumulative GPA in 2019-2020.
 
The Shockers were one of five American Athletic Conference programs to earn the award, joining ECU, Cincinnati, Tulane and USF.

Under new head coach Eric Wedge, Wichita State posted a 13-2 overall record and won it final 12 games before the 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
