WICHITA—Three Wichita State athletes were chosen for the prestigious NCAA Leadership Development – Career in Sports Forum, it was announced Friday.
Rebekah Topham and
Emily Gardiner of the women's track and field team and
Marius Frosa of the men's tennis team were selected for the event.
Despite the Career in Sports Forum's in-person event being canceled, these three Shockers still have the opportunity to virtually learn about leadership and professional development specifically for a career in intercollegiate athletics.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Wichita State student-athletes will participate in the event. The 2020 trio also marks the largest group of selected Shockers in a single year.
The selection process is a competitive one and is application-based. According to the event's website, the event is an annual educational program that brings 200 student-athletes from across the country together to learn about and explore potential careers in sports, particularly college athletics.
According to the NCAA's website, attendees network with peers and decision-makers on college campuses across the country on numerous topics. Attendees will also acquire tools and training needed to pursue careers in the industry.
