WICHITA, Kan. – Tanya Friesen (Women's Track and Field), Billy Hall (Baseball), Lew Merriman (Men's Track and Field), Damon Sublett (Baseball) and Jazreel Tan (Women's Bowling) have been selected as the 2026 Class of the Wichita State Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame.

A dinner is set for 6:00 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the Aetna Multipurpose Center at Charles Koch Arena, while the induction ceremony is scheduled for halftime of Wichita State's Feb. 14 (6 p.m.) men's basketball game against Tulsa.

Cost for the dinner is $50 per person, and paid reservations can be made online at goshockers.com or by calling the Shocker Ticket Office at 316/978-FANS or in person at the WSU Ticket Office located on the south side of Charles Koch Arena.

The addition of this year's class brings the total of former coaches and student-athletes in the Hall of Fame to 168, while there are 14 at-large selections.

Multi-event athlete for the Wichita State track and field programs from 2010-13…Was a first team All-American in the 2013 outdoor heptathlon…Was a second team All-American in the 2013 indoor pentathlon…Was a NCAA Championships qualifier in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 outdoor heptathlon and the 2013 indoor pentathlon…Won the Missouri Valley Conference championship in the 2012 outdoor heptathlon, the 2013 indoor pentathlon and the 2013 outdoor heptathlon…Named Missouri Valley Conference Most Valuable Athlete at the 2013 Outdoor Championship…Named All-Missouri Valley Conference at the Indoor Championship in 2010, 2012 and 2013 and at the Outdoor Championship in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013…Named Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete in 2011, 2012 and 2013…Member of team that won 2010, 2011 and 2013 MVC indoor championship and 2011 and 2012 outdoor championship…Finished her Wichita State career first in the indoor pentathlon and outdoor heptathlon, second in outdoor high jump, fourth in indoor high jump and indoor long jump, sixth in outdoor 100m hurdles and outdoor long jump and ninth in indoor 60m hurdles…Still holds the school record in the outdoor heptathlon.

Infielder for the Wichita State baseball program from 1990-91…In two seasons, hit .357 in 102 games played with 297 at bats, 101 runs, 106 hits, 14 doubles, three triples, four home runs, 49 RBI, 61 walks and 60 stolen bases…Member of two Missouri Valley Conference championship teams and two NCAA Tournament teams…Member of the 1991 College World Series team that finished runners-up…Named a first team All-American by Collegiate Baseball in 1991…Named a third team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association in 1991…Named MVP of the 1991 NCAA Midwest Regional…Earned all-tournament team honors at the 1991 NCAA Midwest Regional…Named to the Missouri Valley Conference all-tournament team in 1991…Named first team all-region and first team all-Valley in 1991…Led the NCAA in stolen bases with 59 in 1991…Drafted in the 17

Lew Merriman, Men's Track and Field (1956-59)
Middle distance runner for the Wichita State track and field programs from 1956-59…Named an All-American in the 800m in 1959…Finished fourth at the NCAA Championship in 1959 in the 800m with a time of 1:49.8…Missouri Valley Conference champion in the 800m in 1957…Member of the MVC All-Centennial Team…Helped WSU to third place finishes in the MVC in 1956, 1958 and 1959…Ran the 800m in the 1960 Palo Alto Olympic Trials and finished fifth with a time of 1:47.9 and just missing out on an Olympic bid by half of a second.
