WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State makes the trip south to Stillwater, Okla., for its next five games, beginning with a midweek tilt against No. 11/13 Oklahoma State on Wednesday, March 11 at 6 p.m. on ESPN+. The Shockers will then participate in the Cowgirl Invitational Friday-Saturday against Columbia, Western Illinois and SIUE. The matchup against the Cowgirls is
not part of the Cowgirl Invitational.

The Shockers rank Top 25 in the nation in nine statistics doubles (4th, 49), slugging percentage (11th, .545), double plays per game (12th, .58), walks (12th, 96), batting average (15th, .331), on base percentage (16th, .420), scoring (17th, 6.65) and home runs per game (25th, 1.15).
Kaylee Huecker's three triples rank 21st nationally, while
Madison Perrigan ranks 41st in home runs and total bases.

Sturdy Bookends
The first and last spots in the batting order have been consistent throughout the season for the Shockers.
Sydney McKinney has started in the leadoff spot and
Wylie Glover has done her due diligence at the nine hole every game. McKinney and Glover are first and second in batting average and have two of the highest on base percentages on the team.

Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State went 5-0 last weekend at the Mizuno Classic. They defeated Missouri State, Murray State, Mercer and No. 25 Utah. OSU already owns wins over ranked opponents such as No. 13 Minnesota, No. 9 Alabama, No. 10 Louisiana and No. 10 Oregon. Amongst starters, Alysen Febrey leads the team in batting average (.385), home runs (11) and RBI (32). RHP Carrie Eberle is the Cowgirls' leader in the circle. She has nine wins with an ERA of 0.51 to go along with 63 strikeouts in 69.0 innings.

Last Meeting with the Cowgirls
Oklahoma State swept both midweek matchups a season ago. The Cowgirls won in Stillwater, 3-0, and in Wichita, 9-6.

Columbia
The Lions enter the weekend after going 2-3 at the UCF Invitational in Orlando, Fla. They lost their first three games of the tournament against Longwood, LIU and Drexel, before finishing play with victories over Drexel and Ball State. Max Ortega sports a team-best .433 batting average to go with eight RBI. Madison Canby is 3-3 in 32.0 innings pitched, while sporting a 2.84 ERA. Her 26 strikeouts are also tops on the team.

This will be just the second meeting between the two programs. Wichita State holds a slim 1-0 lead.

Wichita State routed the Lions, 15-3, when they last met back in 2003 at the Red Raider Classic in Lubbock, Texas.

Western Illinois
Western Illinois is coming off a 2-3 weekend at the Saluki Invitational. WIU's two victories came against DePaul, while dropping contests against Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois and IUPUI. Alyssa Ealy is hitting .362 with a pair of triples, while Savannah Rodriguez has a team-high three home runs. Abby Carlin has pitched a team-leading 62.2 innings and logged a 3-5 record with a 2.59 ERA.

This will be the 34th meeting in the series. The Shockers hold a slim 17-16 advantage.

Last Meeting with the Leathernecks
Wichita State won both games against the Leathernecks in 2018 at the Wichita State Tournament. Both games were decided by just one run with the Shockers winning 8-7 and 7-6.
Scouting SIUE
SIU Edwardsville 3-2 over the weekend at the Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Ariz. SIUE defeated Indiana, South Dakota and Boise State with losses to Boise State and Arizona. Alana Cobb-Adams is tied for the team-lead in home runs with four to go with a .407 batting average. Zoe Schafer also has four long balls, while leading the team in RBI with 19. Emily Ingles is 8-2 in the circle with a 2.63 ERA in 58.2 innings of work.
Series History
SIUE and Wichita State have met only twice prior to this weekend, but the Cougars have won both matchups.
Last Meeting with the Cougars
The Cougars won both matchups against the Shockers in 2009 at SIUE. They won in nine innings in game one, 2-1, and then 11-3 in game two.
