WICHITA, Kan. – No. 48 Wichita State finished in second at the Pacific Central Valley Championship on Sunday, as they fell 3-4 to the Fresno State Bulldogs at the Spalding G. Danny Bryan's squad will get a well-deserved two weeks of rest before return home on March 14 to take on Abilene Christian at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex at 4 p.m.

Doubles
Senior All-Americans Murkel Dellien and Marius Frosa tallied their sixth win in a row as they took down Johannes Seeman and Cagatay Soke on court one. This marks the seventh win of 2020 for the No. 27 doubles pairing.

The Shockers clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win by Stefan Latinovic and Benjamin Niv on court three over Alexey Aleschev and Henrique Osorio. With this win, Latinovic and Niv snapped a four-match losing streak.

On court two, Elio Lago and Orel Ovil were all knotted up with Zdenek Derkas and Daniel Baturyn, 4-4, before their match was supended. They were hunting for their seventh win of the season before they were halted.

Singles
The Bulldogs evened things up as Dellien's three match win streak was snapped by Derkas on court one as he fell, 1-6, 1-6. This makes Dellien 5-4 over his last ten singles matches.

Things remained knotted up as both the Shockers and the Bulldogs won match to push their respective scores to two. Ovil defeated Aleschev, 6-4, 7-5, to claim his second victory of the season on court three, while his doubles parter Lago was stifled on court two by Johannes Seemen, 2-6, 4-6.

Fresno State would just not go away as freshman Yi Jui Lo was unable to duplicate his success from yesterday on court six, falling to Baturyn, 4-6, 2-6. This gave the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead with heated matches in progress on court four and five.

Both remaining matches came down to the wire with each finishing in a third set. Frosa got a gritty, 6-3, 4-6, win on court four over Soke for his 10th win in 2020 and tie things up at three. It was also his sixth win in a row.

It all came down to court five where Latinovic battled to the bitter end before losing in a heartbreaker to Osorio, 6-4, 6-7, 3-6.
