AUSTIN, Texas - Day two of the Texas Classic proved to be a great day for the Shocker offense as they scored the second-most runs in the NCAA softball era in school history by romping Lamar, 19-2, and similarly beating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 14-4.

A historic offensive performance by the Shockers propelled them against Lamar. The 16 hits in the game were the most since the 12 hit last season versus USF. The four home runs in the game were the most since the team had three, also against USF last season. Other high marks include RBIs (18) and doubles (5). Not to be outdone, starting pitcher Caitlin Bingham pitched four shutout innings with three strikeouts and only four hits allowed.

The scoring began quickly with a total of 12 runs in the first two innings. Ryleigh Buck batted second in the order and homered to left center to put the Shockers up by two in the first. The Shockers found plenty of other ways to score in the inning as they scored off an HBP and a single up the middle that scored two. The second inning featured two doubles by Lauren Mills and Sydney McKinney that combined to score six runs.

Scoring was subdued in the third before it opened up again in the final two innings. Kaylee Huecker had a two-run home run in the fourth and the fifth featured back-to-back jacks by Neliegh Herring and Mills.

35 minutes after beating Lamar, the Shockers took on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and it started much the same way as the first game. Eight runs were scored by the Shockers in the first two innings, four of which came off a first inning grand slam from Herring. The Islanders didn't bow down and cut the lead in half in the third and fourth innings off of two home runs, one of which was a three-run homer to left field by Sydney Hoyt. The Shocker offense got back on track in the fifth inning and Bailey Urban hit a walk-off three-run home run to run rule the second team of the day. Erin McDonald pitched the whole game, allowing five hits and striking out six, one off her career high.
