LAST TIME OUT
Wichita State snapped its three-game losing streak with a 57-55 win vs. ECU last Saturday. Wichita State recorded its first season sweep of the Pirates since joining The American. To offset a poor shooting day, the Shockers made up for it at the free throw line, going 21-of-30. Wichita State won on a go-ahead DJ McCarty three-pointer with 11 seconds remaining to hold off ECU's upset bid. Asia Henderson scored nine of her career-high 11 points after halftime. Raven Prince registered her third game with 10 or more and first of conference play with a team-high tying 11 points. Seraphine Bastin added seven points, nine rebounds and four assists.

SCOUTING THE OWLS
Temple enters the matchup at 13-8 overall and 5-3 in league play. The Owls own league wins over Tulsa, Houston, SMU, USF and UCF. Mia Davis averages a double-double at 19.5 points and 10.9 rebounds per game to lead the Owls. Ashley Jones (16.0) and Marissa Mackins (14.0) also average double figures, while Asonah Alexander averages 4.7 assists a contest. Davis ranks first in The American in rebounds, free throws made, double-doubles; second in free throw attempts; and third in points per game. Her 14 double-doubles put her second nationally and 10.9 rebounds a game 14th. Alexander tops the conference in assists and assist-turnover ratio, while Mackins is the league's best 3-point shooter in terms of 3-pointers made and attempted.

THE SERIES VS. TEMPLE
Wichita State and Temple have met six times prior to Wednesday's matchup with the Owls taking four of the first six contests. The Shockers snapped a three-game losing streak vs. the Owls last month in Wichita on a last-second shot to give Wichita State a 72-70 win. This will be just the second-ever visit to Philadelphia for the Shockers. Wichita State is 0-1 vs. the Owls in Philadelphia. Wichita State will also go for its first regular season sweep of Temple since joining The American.

LAST MEETING
Wichita State and ECU met less than a month ago in Wichita, where the Shockers came out with a 72-70 win on a last-second shot. Wichita State was outrebounded in the contest, but only committed 10 turnovers in the game and shot 41.4 percent from the floor. Temple was just 6-of-20 from beyond the arc. The Shockers erased an eight-point halftime deficit. Trajata Colbert recorded the game-winner with just 2 seconds on the clock. Mariah McCully scored a team-high 15 points, while Seraphine Bastin and Shyia Smith added 12 apiece.

ABOUT THE OWLS
Located in Philadelphia, Pa., Temple University has an enrollment of 41,000 as a member of the American Athletic Conference. Temple returns eight letterwinners and four starters off last year's squad that finished 11-19 and 7-9 in The American. The Owls were picked to finish sixth by the league's coaches in the American Athletic Conference Preseason Poll. Mia Davis was selected by the coaches to the Preseason All-Conference First Team. Head Coach Tonya Cardoza is Temple's all-time winningest coach with a career record of 224-155, now in her 12th season with the Owls. Cardoza has led Temple to seven postseason berths, including four NCAA Tournament appearances and a spot in WNIT Final Four. She is a two-time conference Coach of the Year and in 2017 was one of 10 finalists for WBCA National Coach of the Year honors. Prior to taking over the Temple program, Cardoza spent 14 seasons under Geno Auriemma at UConn. She won five national championships while on the staff with the Huskies.

SHOCKERS MAKE AMERICAN RECORD BOOK
In Wichita State's 100-50 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday, Dec. 16, the Shockers tied the conference single-game record with 36 made free throws, going a collective 36-of-45 (80 percent) from the charity stripe. That performance draws even with USF's 36 foul shots against UCF on Jan. 5, 2016. WSU finished one make shy of the top mark in school history (37, in 2005).

A SHOCKER WIN WOULD...
... make them 13-10 on the season
... make them 5-5 in conference play
... run their record to 4-3 all-time vs. Temple
... be their first win in Philadelphia
... give them the season sweep of the Owls
... run Adams' career coaching record to 450-291
... make Adams 323-254 at the Division I level
... make Wichita State 609-693 all-time

A SHOCKER LOSS WOULD...
... drop them to 12-11 to begin the season
... make them 4-6 in conference play
... drop them to 2-5 all-time vs. Temple
... lower Adams' career coaching record to 449-292
... make Adams 322-255 at the Division I level
... make Wichita State 608-694 all-time

BEST DECADE YET
Wichita State's win over Grambling State on Dec. 30 was the final contest of 2019 and decade for the Shocker basketball program. The Shockers have three 20-point outings this season, two of which belong to McCully.

REBOUNDING IS THE KEY
