Black Sweeps Fall World Series

WICHITA, Kan. – Jack Sigrist crossed home plate on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th-inning, lifting the Black Team to a 4-3 walk-off win over the Yellow Team in the Wichita State Baseball Black and Yellow Fall World Series third game Friday, Oct. 16, at Eck Stadium, Home of Tyler Field. 
 
With the victory, the Black Team swept the five-game series, 3-0. 
 
Corrigan Bartlett led Black at the plate in the deciding game, going 2-for-4 with a double, while Hunter Gibson added a hit and drove in a pair of runs. 
 
Reliever Aaron Haase (1-0) earned the victory after allowing no earned runs on no hits with three strikeouts and a walk in three innings of work. 
 
Garrett Kocis and Blake Marsh both went 2-for-4 in the batter's box, with Kocis compiling a double, while Cooper Elliot tallied two RBIs, pacing Yellow. 
 
Tommy Barnhouse (0-1) suffered the loss on the rubber after surrendering one earned run on no hits in 1 2/3 innings of work. 
 
Yellow was able to secure its first win in the series in game four, rolling to a 9-1 triumph after plating six runs in the bottom of the second, two in the third and one in the fifth. 
 
Kocis and Jalon Mack shined for Yellow in the contest, as both smacked two-run homers. Kocis' round tripper was a towering blast to centerfield, while Mack's was a line-drive that cleared the right field wall. 
 
Bartlett paced Black offensively in the night cap, going 1-for-3 with a double, while Paxton Wallace added a pair of hits. 
 
Jace Kaminska (1-0) secured the victory for Yellow in game four, throwing 5 1/3 innings and giving up one earned run on six hits with four Ks and a walk. 
 
Preston Snavely (0-1) took the loss after allowing eight earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts in three innings. 
 
The final game of the Fall World Series is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Eck Stadium. The contest is open to the public. Admission is FREE, but attendance is limited to 2,000 due to COVID-19 guidelines. Masks are required to be worn throughout the stadium at all times.
