WICHITA - The Wichita State men's and women's track and field teams announced the 3rd annual Shocker Track and Field Golf Scramble on Monday.
The event is set for an 8 a.m. start on Oct. 7 at Willowbend Golf Club. A single player entry is $125 and the entry fee for a full team of four players is $500. Green fees, carts, range balls, breakfast, lunch, tournament gifts and prizes are all included with the entry fee.
"We have a great time at our Shocker Golf Scramble," said Director of Track and Field and Cross Country
Steve Rainbolt. "I appreciate all of the players coming out and contributing to our program. I also enjoy my annual one-man golf marathon challenge, and I appreciate everyone making pledges for that part of the event."
Rainbolt will attempt a 62-hole marathon. The leader of the Shockers' track program plans to walk and golf 62 holes, which matches the coach's age. At the 2018 tournament, Rainbolt walked and golfed 61 holes. He covered more than 23 miles and more than 43,000 steps in his 2018 golf marathon.
Fans can make donations directly to the program or pledge a certain number of money per hole or stroke that Rainbolt takes.
Hole sponsorships are also available for $250. The sponsorship fee is 100 percent tax deductible. Hole sponsorships include logo signage at the tournament and recognition at the event.
