Wichita State softball pitching coach Ryne Stefankiewicz joins the podcast to preview the American Athletic Conference Championships, which begin Thursday in Houston.

On Wichita State's final two weekend series:

"It's proved we can, not just compete with, but beat the top two teams in the conference. Tulsa and USF are (second and first). We were within a run of taking two out of three from Tulsa and we took two out of three from USF. I think we're a tough team right now to play. We're hitting really well. We've played great defense all year and we're pitching pretty well in the circle right now."

On dealing with injuries and lineup changes over the past month:

"We got down to a small number, 14, 15, 16 girls. Coach (Bredbenner) had a talk with them about 'Hey, we're going to need all of you to make this happen.' After we bought into all 14 or 15 girls that were available were going to play a role, we got going."

On sophomore pitcher Erin McDonald taking the lead spot in the circle:

"For her, it's been a learning curve and she's learned quite a bit in the last month and it's showing."
