WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State track and field program will host the Shocker Pre-State Challenge/K.T. Woodman Classic at Cessna Stadium beginning Wednesday April 10-13.

Wichita State welcomes nearly 100 high schools and 30 college teams to Cessna Stadium for the Shocker Pre-State Challenge/K.T. Woodman Classic. Action of the four-day event begins Wednesday, April 10 at 12:30 p.m. with the men's decathlon, followed by the start of the women's heptathlon at 1:00 p.m. Admission is free on Wednesday

Day two of competition begins with the continuation of the men's decathlon at 10:30 a.m., followed by the women's heptathlon at 11:45 a.m. The high school portion will see its first action at 12:00 p.m., with the start of the boys pentathlon, followed by the start of the girls pentathlon at 12:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, ages 3-12 $4 and children under three are free.

Friday, April 12 will feature high school field events and running events during the day, followed by the college javelin and distance carnival at night. High school field events begins with long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw and pole vault at 9:00 a.m., while running events start at 9:30 a.m., with the 4x800m relay. The college javelin is set to begin with the women at 6:00 p.m., followed by the men. Section one and two of the women's 1500m kick off the nightly distance carnival, ending with the men's 5000m at 10:55 p.m.

Last day of competition will start Saturday, April 13, with field events at 11:00 a.m., followed by running events at 11:45 a.m. Admission for Friday and Saturday is $7 for adults, ages 3-12 $5 and children under three are free.

Live results will be streamed through Half-Mile Timing and will be available on goshockers.com and the official @GoShockersTFXC twitter account. WSUtv will produce a live video stream and available beginning Friday night, Saturday will be streamed all day.

Aaron True leads a strong javelin that ranks No. 5 in the most recent USTFCCCA event squad rankings. The senior currently ranks No. 12 in the nation with a season best toss of 70.56m/231-6. On the women's side,
Claudia Rojo leads the No. 3 heptathlon group in the nation that averages a score of 4,632 points. Rojo is not only the top heptathlon scorer on the team with 4,973 points, she also has recorded the team's fastest 800m in 2:21.00 and farthest long jump at 5.83m/19-1.5. Distance runners
Rebekah Topham and
Winny Koskei have led the women's team on the track. Topham is currently ranked No. 8 in the nation in the 3000m steeplechase (10:09.94), while Koskei is No. 30 in the 10,000m (33:50.68).

Aaron True, Raianna Maples and
Jacque Darby currently hold K.T. Woodman Classic meet records. True won the 2018 javelin with a throw of 72.05m/236-5, while in 2017 Maples and Darby were part of the 4x100m relay team that clocked in at 45.12.

Claudia Rojo each lead their Shocker teams in three individual events. Martens leads the men's team in shot put (16.32m/53-6.5), discus (52.14m/171-1) and hammer (61.41m/201-6). Rojo leads the women's squad in 800m (2:21.00), long jump (5.83m/19-1.5) and heptathlon (4,973).

• Shocker men's team was ranked No. 43 in the USTFCCCA week two poll, released April 8. The Shockers entered the 2019 preseason poll at No. 37 and were ranked as high as No. 21 during the 2018 season, the highest ranking in the program's history.
