CHANDLER, Ariz. - Freshman
Brock Polhill hit the ground running in the first two rounds of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Monday.
Polhill compiled a new career low 18-hole score with a 68 in the first round, with his 4-under par finish moving him in a tie for 15th place heading into the final round. The Edmond, Okla., native collected nine birdies on the day and marked the second consecutive tournament where a member of the Wichita State men's golf team shot under 70, with
Zac Owens coming up with a 69 at the Furman Intercollegiate.
Owens is in a tie for 56th place after the first 36 holes after shooting 146, finishing the first round with a 1-under par performance.
Yannik Emmert is tied for 65th with a 147 score, bouncing back to shoot 1-under par in the second round.
Grayson Wallace came up with a new career low 18-hole score in the first round, shooting a 75 in just his second tournament of the season. Wallace is tied for 94th while
Nicolas Absil is tied for 117th after shooting 159 in his first career tournament.
Wichita State is tied for 15th after compiling a 585 team score, moving ahead of Gonzaga, Utah State, CSU-Northridge and Old Dominion. UCLA leads the team standings with a 558 team score, leading Cal State Fullerton by two strokes and GCU by four.
The third and final round wraps up Tuesday starting 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. Live stats will be available through Golfstat.
