HOUSTON - Sophomore Zac Owens is tied for fourth in the Bayou City Collegiate following the first two rounds on Monday, compiling a total of 141 for 3-under par.

Owens finished with a 69 in the first round and a 72 in the second round, marking the second time in three tournaments where he has shot under 70 for an 18-hole score. The Woodward, Okla., native is four strokes back from the lead, with Luis Carrera from Sam Houston State holding the top spot after compiling a 137 36-hole score.

Yannik Emmert started the day by compiling a 1-under par finish in the first round, but fell to a 78 in the next 18 holes to come up with a 149 combined score and a tie for 40th place. Palmer Hays finished the first day tied for 46th after finishing for par in the first round and completing round two with a 78.

Dawson Lewis came up with a 152 and is tied for 57th, with Brock Polhill rounding out the Shocker scorecard with a 153 and is tied for 63rd.

The Shockers are in ninth place after compiling a team score of 589, leading Rice, McNeese State, Denver, New Mexico State and Houston Baptist. Wichita State is only three strokes behind conference foe, Houston, for eighth place and are only six strokes behind a spot in the top five. The Shockers are seeking their highest finish of the spring season, which is 10th twice at the Farms Invitational and the GCU Invitational.

Sam Houston State holds a 12-stroke lead over George Washington after totaling a 569 team score, with UTSA coming in third after a 582 performance. Abilene Christian and Arkansas State are only one stroke behind UTSA, each totaling a 583 team score.
