HOUSTON- The Wichita State men's golf continues its spring season with the Bayou City Collegiate classic starting on Monday.
This is the first time the Shockers will be competing in the event hosted by the University of Houston, Sam Houston State and Rice. Wichita State will also compete against Abilene Christian, Arkansas State, Denver, George Washington, Houston Baptist, Lamar, McNeese State, New Mexico State, Texas State, UT-Arlington and UTSA.
Yannik Emmert is coming off a tied for 32nd finish at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, leading the Shockers with a 216 54-hole score. Highlighting the individual results from Wichita State's last outing was freshman Brock Polhill, who finished with a career low 54-hole score of 217 and his highest career finish after placing in a tie for 37th. Polhill's 68 in the first round also marked a new career low for a single round score.
Zac Owens tied for 72nd at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic after totaling a 223 score. Grayson Wallace improved his career low by 12 strokes in just his second collegiate tournament, recording a 227 and a tie for 94th. Nicholas Absil finished in 118th with a 239 score in his first career tournament.

Palmer Hays and
Dawson Lewis will be inserted into the Shocker scorecard. Hays and Lewis last competed in the Furman Intercollegiate, where Hays shot a 237 and Lewis shot a 239.
Wichita State is coming off a 16th place finish at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, finishing ahead of Weber State, Utah State, CSU-Northridge and Old Dominion. The Shockers will get their first look at conference foe Houston this week for the first time. The Cougars are coming off a tied for 2nd finish at the All-American Intercollegiate and have five top 10 finishes this spring.
The Shockers hold a 3-5 record against the tournament field and have an 0-2 record against teams from the American Athletic Conference. The Shockers fell behind to UCF in the fall at The Jackrabbit and Cincinnati at the Furman Intercollegiate.
Lipscomb won the event in 2017 and beat Arkansas State by eight strokes, with Lipscomb's Dawson Armstrong winning the individual title after shooting 12-under par.
