Aaron True was named the American Athletic Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week for the week of March 19-26, the league announced Tuesday.

2018 All-American True opened the 2019 outdoor season on March 23, winning the Herm Wilson Invitational javelin with a throw of 70.56m/231-6. His mark is No. 1 in the American Athletic Conference and No. 9 in the nation.

True recorded the best preliminary throw on his first attempt with a mark of 70.30m/230-8, his second attempt landed at 70.29m/230-7. On his first attempt in the finals, he let it fly to a competition best 70.56m/231-6.

The Leroy, Kan., will be in action this week as he travels to compete at the 92nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. True is one of six athletes currently ranked top-10 in the nation entering the field, including Mississippi State throwers No. 1 Anderson Peters and No. 2 Curtis Thompson. Peters is the 2018 NCAA defending national champion in the javelin.
